Martyn Riley
London based Sound Artist and Experimental Musician.
I work with and am passionate about sound. It is my main medium; however, this connects with many disciplines and as my art practice develops it touches on fresh areas and with new materials and environments.
Thematically my interests are based on the memory, histories, and their decay of experiences. A mix of the personal, the political and the physical and their continued meaning to the present day. I look at subjects with the ability to be deconstructed to create abstractions to benefit discourse, reaction, and alternative standpoints.
Materials and processes are a mix of found objects and stories that have associations; pieces that can be altered to inform a different but connected story. It is important for the work to be pragmatically physical and my development with structure and texture, sculpture and sound continues. When not running parallel to pieces, the sonic elements will often be the final part of the puzzle
